This is the Mini Moon
An 8 cm moon with the craters raised on the surface, sitting on its little stand. You flick the switch and it comes on with a soft, even light that fills the corner by the bed without waking the whole room. No cable and no socket: you put it wherever you like, on a shelf, on the windowsill, on your child's bedside table.
How big is it really?
Small, on purpose. The sphere is 8 cm across, roughly a tennis ball, and it fits in the palm of your hand. On the stand it comes to about 12 cm. It's a mood light for a shelf or a bedside table, not a lamp for reading the paper.
What's it made of?
A matte, lightweight shell with the lunar craters moulded into the surface, visible with the light off too. Inside there's a low-consumption LED, under 1 watt, that stays cool to the touch. The stand is plastic and clips together from three pieces in a few seconds.
